To celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary this past weekend, we went to the happiest place on earth . . . Trader Vic's. One of the last examples of true tiki style, home of the world-famous Mai-Tai, a restaurant where the house band still plays space age lounge music. All was as expected—delicious food, South Sea terrific ambiance, and dignified, unobtrusive waitstaff. It's hard to believe that the Atlanta restaurant has survived changes in ownership and renovations yet still retains traditional Polynesian decor (perhaps the older hotel restaurants, like the London and Atlanta Vic's, have escaped misguided "updating" by remaining under the radar). Enjoy while you can!
